Solar Moonshot Program Grantee

La Conner Swinomish Library
“The La Conner Swinomish Library has committed to certify LEED Silver, which involves a full range of energy efficient materials and technologies to be used in the construction of the new library. One of the efforts which particularly excites us is the full solar array that will provide energy savings over time to the library and the capacity to invest those savings into library programs for our community. The benefits of solar energy are well known. Solar energy reduces air pollution, helps fight climate change, and reduces our dependence on fossil fuels. These are great benefits, and our excitement for solar energy is probably best expressed by how these choices create positive effects long into the future, and hopefully encourage others to do the same. The Solar Moonshot Program grant is a tremendous boost to making the full solar array possible for the new library, which will open in the summer of 2022.”
